CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WorldWide HealthStaff Solutions (WWHS), a Medical Solutions company and leader in international direct hire recruitment, has partnered with Books For Africa, the largest shipper of donated books to the African continent, to help expand access to nursing education in underserved regions of Kenya.

This summer, WWHS supported the shipment of 40,000 nursing textbooks to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Nairobi. These donations aim to strengthen healthcare education and empower future nurses. This comes at a time when many countries are experiencing a critical shortage of nurses, making investments in education and training more important than ever.

Since 2022, WWHS has partnered with Books For Africa to donate more than 100,000 nursing textbooks to parts of Africa, including Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Malawi.

Books For Africa has shipped over 63 million books to all 55 African countries since 1988. Its mission to end the book famine in Africa aligns with WWHS’s mission to improve lives worldwide by connecting global professionals with healthcare employers for the best career opportunities.

“This initiative is about more than books. It’s about investing in the future of healthcare. We’re proud to support nursing students in Kenya who may one day work with us and end up delivering compassionate care in communities across the globe.” — Ron Hoppe, CEO of WWHS.

“Volunteering in Tanzania in 2008 opened my eyes to the power of community and education. Partnering with Books For Africa has allowed me to continue that work. With the right resources, I believe we can transform lives and communities.” — Louis Brownstone, President of WWHS/Books For Africa Board Member.

“Books For Africa is honored to assist in shipping these medical books to Kenya in partnership with WorldWide HealthStaff Solutions and other partners. It is our hope that they will advance medical care and medical training in Kenya for many years to come. It is exciting to see these donations going to such dedicated students and educators. This kind of collaboration is what drives lasting impact.” — Patrick Plonski, Executive Director of Books For Africa.

“This donation will be distributed equitably across our Campuses, ensuring every student can benefit. Over 70,000 KMTC students across our 90 campuses will directly benefit from these books, gaining access to vital learning materials that will enrich their academic journey and professional preparedness.”— Dr. Kelly Oluoch, Chief Executive Officer of KMTC.

“The KMTC Strategic Plan for 2023–2028 serves as a blueprint that recognizes partnership as a cornerstone for achieving our mission. The Plan underscores the importance of forging and nurturing strategic collaborations with local and international stakeholders to enhance the quality of training, resource mobilization, and innovation at KMTC.”— Joseah Cheruiyot, Chairperson of the KMTC Board of Directors.

“This donation stands as a powerful example of how the diaspora can empower different sectors within their communities back home. By equipping our medical trainees with the tools and competence they need to save lives, we are investing in a healthier, more resilient future for our country. These textbooks represent more than just academic resources; they symbolize opportunity, equity, and a renewed belief in the potential of every health student to transform lives across Kenya.” — Irene Karari, Director at the State Department of Diaspora Affairs in Kenya.
